Pedal comfortably on an E-Bike together with an expert guide along the splendid and panoramic Paliano-Fiuggi cycle railway, dating back to the early 1900s, transformed into one of the most beautiful cycle routes in Italy.

We will cross ancient vineyards of Cesanese wine, which we will have the opportunity to taste in a cellar together with typical local products.

Immerse yourself in the nature and rural villages of the Simbruini Mountains Regional Park, such as the villages of Acuto, Piglio and Paliano.

You will sleep in a hotel where you will have access to the spa and its wellness programs to recharge your batteries. The following day we will discover the famous Arcinazzo plateaus and along a road already traveled in Roman times (via Sublacense), we will see the villa of Emperor Trajan dating back to the 2nd century AD.

We will continue along mountain roads with breathtaking views and grazing animals until we reach Subiaco, an early medieval village, dominated by the imposing Rocca Abbaziale, which stands on a spur of limestone rock overlooking the Aniene Valley.

Day 1 :

Day 1: Cyclerailway and Fiuggi

In the morning our shuttle awaits you at 9.00 am to take you on a short journey of about 1 hour to Paliano. Once you reach your destination, you jump on the electric bikes to pedal along the beautiful Paliano-Fiuggi cycle railway.

This stretch is considered one of the most beautiful cycle paths in Italy, thanks to the splendid panorama that can be admired throughout the entire route.

You will pass through places of cultural and naturalistic interest: these are characteristic villages located at the foot of the Ernici mountains, characterized by a hilly landscape. They are places rich in woods, meadows and streams, and are an important reserve of biodiversity, as well as important agricultural centers, with a production of high quality wine, oil and fruit.

In fact, a stop is planned at a cellar to taste Cesanese wine (famous for its aroma and body).

In the afternoon, arrival in Fiuggi, check in and accommodation in the selected Bike Hotel with Spa where you can let yourself be regenerated by a wellness program and enjoy a dinner prepared with typical local products.

Day 2 :

Day 2: Subiaco

We say goodbye to Fiuggi passing through the historic center where you will find medieval streets and historic buildings, such as the 14th century Orsini-Colonna Castle.

You then immerse yourself in natural paths until you reach the Arcinazzo plateaus, a mountainous area of the central Apennines which is part of the Abruzzo National Park.

The area is rich in deciduous and coniferous forests, small rural villages scattered among the hills, thermal springs, caves and historical sites of significant importance such as Trajan’s Villa. Today’s final destination will be the beautiful Subiaco, which offers visitors a historical, artistic and natural heritage of great value. In fact, we will dedicate the afternoon to discovering the Abbey Fortress, the Church of San Francesco, the Pontifical Palace and much more.

Day 3 :

Day 3: Nature trail

Ready to take a huge amount of photos for your social networks? Today’s route to Lake San Benedetto and the monasteries. it is a beautiful excursion that allows you to discover some of the most evocative places in the Aniene valley, between nature, history and spirituality. The route passes through the Monastery of Santa Scolastica, the oldest of the Benedictine monasteries of Subiaco, and continues up to the Laghetto di San Benedetto, a small body of turquoise water surrounded by limestone rocks and fed by a natural waterfall. Here you can admire the ruins of Nero’s Villa, an imperial residence from the 1st century AD, and the Sanctuary of the Sacro Speco, a cave where Saint Benedict lived as a hermit and where you can see medieval frescoes. The route then continues towards the Monastery of San Biagio, another place of Benedictine worship, and finally arrives at the Three Lakes of Nero, three artificial basins created to supply the thermal baths of the imperial villa

TRAVEL SUSTAINABLELY

Discovering the area by bicycle is an ecological and responsible way of travelling, which respects the environment and cultural heritage.

Not polluting, however, means much more: leave no trace of your passage, don’t leave waste.

We may also visit places of worship, so please wear appropriate clothing.

We will cross green areas and archaeological sites, do not take objects, damage plants or disturb animals to keep the protected territory unaltered.

Resources are precious for the whole planet: don’t waste water and energy.

The accommodation facilities have internal regulations that we ask you to respect to guarantee the efficiency of services for all guests.

READ CAREFULLY BELOW BEFORE BOOKING

Departure is guaranteed upon reaching the minimum number of 6 participants. If this does not happen, you can change your trip or ask us for a full refund of the amount paid.
For organizational reasons, the hotel could accommodate the participants in another connected structure, with equal treatment. Some accommodation facilities may request a credit card at check-in as a guarantee for any consumption or extra services (minibar, spa entrances,…). The card is unlocked at check out.
The itinerary may undergo changes before and/or during the holiday for organizational reasons, climatic conditions (intended exclusively for strong thunderstorms and not drizzle) or for provisions of the local authorities. No refund will be provided for changes or failure to carry out the program due to the causes mentioned above. In the event of closures that cannot be foreseen at the time of publication of the program, we will replace the scheduled visit with other places of interest.
We look forward to seeing you in good shape to tackle this itinerary: carefully check the level of difficulty and the characteristics of the route, and ask us for help in case of doubts. It is essential to know how to ride a bicycle with a minimum of experience in using it. People deemed by our guide to be unsuitable for the trip, or with physical problems that preclude the trip safely, will not be admitted to the group. There will be no refund for non-ELIGIBLE people.
Please notify us any allergies, intolerances or eating habits (e.g. vegetarian, vegan diet…). We will communicate your request to the facility. To be safe, bring a small supply of special foods (e.g. gluten-free) with you.
Remember to check out in the morning, immediately after breakfast, so as not to leave any documents requested during check-in at the hotel. In fact, at the end of the trip you will not return to your room, your luggage will be transported by our transfer service directly to the rental point (meeting point).
The luggage transfer service included in the package includes only and exclusively one small/medium-sized trolley per person. Any other additional baggage can be transported upon prior request and extra payment.
Remember to charge the E-Bike battery overnight so you have all the levels for pedaling the following day.
