Our shuttle will take us comfortably to Viterbo, the city of the popes.
From here we will get on our electric bikes and start pedaling along the Via Francigena, the ancient pilgrims’ road that crosses Europe. We will cycle through the hills of Tuscia, rich in history, art and nature. We will arrive in Montefiascone, the city of wine, and together with a visit to the center we will enjoy a glass of the East! East!! Est!!!, the famous local wine combined with a visit to a historic cellar. Here we will appreciate the history of the producing family as well as tasting local products, in an informal and truly pleasant context! Cheers to your bike adventure! You have just traveled one of the most beautiful and evocative stretches of the Via Francigena, an experience that you will remember forever.
Leaving Montefiascone, it is time for Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe. Here the panorama will be a real picture to photograph! Breathe the pure and fragrant air. Enjoy the view of the islands of Bisentina and Martana, ancient refuges of popes and princes. We will follow the panoramic road that runs along the lake, among olive trees and cypresses, and we will reach Bolsena, a charming village that deserves a break from cycling. Today’s final destination, however, will be Orvieto, one of the most beautiful and evocative cities in Umbria. Admire the cathedral, an Italian Gothic masterpiece, and St. Patrick’s Well, an engineering marvel. Explore the caves and tunnels dug into the tuff, testimony to a thousand-year history. We will conclude the bike trip with a taste of the typical products of the area.
The last day begins with a ride through the hills of Umbria, rich in history, art and nature. Admire the view of the gullies, the rock formations carved out by erosion, and the profile of Civita di Bagnoregio, the “dying town”. We will then park the bike at the pedestrian bridge that connects the village to the mainland, and we will begin a challenging but rewarding climb up to the village.
